2019 Mobile Dance
Jo Parkes is a freelance dance artist, director and dance educator (D/UK). She creates participative projects: installations, performances in public space, events and videos. She is the founder and artistic director of Mobile Dance, an organisation which works with socially engaged, co-creative, participative dance. Mobile Dance creates participative dance projects which support individuals in the development of mobility: in their bodies, their personal development and their relationship to the world around them. The company understands co-creative processes as research for the collective living: a laboratory in which people from different backgrounds can investigate themes which concern them. The work is established at the intersection of arts with socio-political concerns.
